Choosing a domain name for your website is a very important decision, and should not be taken lightly. A bad choice of name could seriously affect the potential profitability of your online business, and prevent it achieving as much success as it should do.
There are many factors you should consider when selecting a domain name.
Firstly, you should try and include your main keyword(s) in your name if at all possible. This will help your site in terms of search engine rankings, because search engines generally rank websites slightly higher if they include their main keyword(s) in their domain name.
In saying that though, ideally it should be relatively short and easy to remember. This is fairly obvious, but is a mistake that a lot of webmasters make. I always prefer names without any dashes or numbers in, as this increases the risk of people mistyping your address into their browsers, and try to keep them as short and as memorable as possible.
Sometimes though it's just not possible or desirable to include your keywords in your domain name. For example, your main keyword terms or phrases could be two or three words long, and if they're long words as well, then any available domain name you find that contains these keywords may simply be too long. Also, you may decide that any domain name containing your main keywords would be too generic and unmemorable, so in this instance you would probably have more success trying to brand yourself, and creating a unique, distinctive domain name, that sets you apart from your competition.
Indeed a lot of major companies now prefer to brand themselves with a memorable domain name, and don't include any keywords at all in their name. You only have to look at some of the biggest companies online to see evidence of this. A lot of offline companies also do this when building an online presence, by simply using their offline company name as their domain name.
One other thing to consider is that you should not use a trademarked name in your own domain name. This is again fairly obvious, but can be a serious problem. You should double-check before you choose a domain name as you could potentially face legal action in the future when the company who owns the trademarked name finds out about your site. At the very least they could demand that you give up the right to the domain name, which could be catastrophic to your business if you have to suddenly drop your name and go for a completely new one.
Finally, whatever name you choose, I recommend, if at all possible, to choose a name with the suffix .com. This will instantly give your website increased credibility, as people still refer to online businesses as dot-coms, even those people that have never used the internet. Also I know from personal experience that when I browse various websites I will always give more credence to a website ending in .com, than one ending in .info or .biz, for example.

Domain Name Transfers

Transferring a domain name can be as easy as signing up for a forum or as difficult as recreating the Mona Lisa. Here are some ways to make a transfer go smoother and some key points to remember on the domain name transfer process.
Before you go to your registrar's home page or call any support number, take a step back and make sure you know what you want to do! I can't stress this enough: if you are confused as to what you want to do, then you will probably confuse the customer service representative and that's not good! We are going to assume that you want to take a domain name that's registered with a certain registrar and move the domain name to another registrar. Please take note that the ONLY thing this accomplishes is that the domain name is now "leased" by a different company, that's it! This has nothing to do with your website, your email, your DNS, or anything like that! The most common mistake is when someone's webhost tells them to "transfer" the domain name to different servers. What they are talking about is something called DNS and that's another article on its own. So if you're still with me and want to change the registrar of record for the domain name, then please continue.
If you have gotten this far then you probably have another registrar in mind where you want to move the domain name to. That's great! Many people ask which companies I recommend and from personal experience I would say use GoDaddy or Network Solutions. While the price difference is considerable, they both have different things to offer so it comes down to what you want and what you need.
The first thing that needs to be done for a domain name transfer is the transfer needs to be initiated. The only company that can initiate a domain name transfer is the gaining registrar (the company you want to move the domain to). No one else is able to do this, so either call up the new registrar, or go to their website to initiate the transfer. You will most likely need to set up an account if you don't already have one which only takes a few minutes. Initiating the transfer is quite easy as most registrars have a very simple online process. While each registrar is different, the process is usually as simple as logging into your account, clicking on something that says "transfer domains", typing in the domain name, and clicking "ok".
Now the transfer is in motion! Here's what happens behind the scenes to your domain name - it's important to understand this so you know what's going on at all times! The gaining registrar sends an email to the admin contact in the WHOIS database for this domain name. In that email, there is a link the admin needs to click on and actively accept the transfer of the domain name. If the admin contact fails to accept the transfer via this hyperlink, the gaining registrar will acknowledge this as rejecting the transfer. The time limit to accept this transfer request is usually around 7 days.
If the admin contact's email address in the WHOIS record is not correct, then it needs to be updated before anything else. This process can sometimes take a while depending on the account information the registrar of record has in its database. This is a very good reason for initiating a transfer well before it's due to expire.
Now, if the admin contact approves the transfer request, then the gaining registrar sends a notification to the registry for the domain TLD. The registry checks the status of the domain and tells the gaining registrar if it's ok to continue or not. In order for a domain name to transfer, it has to be in an ACTIVE status. If the domain is locked, pending delete, in redemption, inactive - anything other than ACTIVE, it will not transfer. This is important to know because most people transfer a domain name when it's about to expire or just after it expired. This isn't good because most registrars will deactivate a domain name shortly after expiration which will automatically block transfer requests. And before you ask, yes, they have every right to do this and they do not have to reactivate your domain name for you until you pay them a renewal fee. So make sure you initiate a transfer early - I recommend at least 14 days in advance, but more if possible. The domain name also needs to be registered with a given registrar for at least 60 days. This means you cannot purchase a domain name and then transfer it to another registrar of record in less than 60 days. You also can't transfer a domain name, and then transfer it again within 60 days.
If the domain name is in an ACTIVE state and has been registered for more than 60 days, the registry informs the gaining registrar that the transfer process will continue. The registry then informs the losing registrar that a transfer request has been made for the domain name.
This part can be tricky depending how your current registrar handles outbound transfer requests. ICANN states that the gaining registrar is the one who carries the burden of proof of authentication. This basically means the gaining registrar is responsible for contacting the correct person (admin contact) and getting their explicit approval for the domain name transfer. The losing registrar does not have this burden, and therefore is not bound to the same specific rules as the gaining registrar. The losing registrar may contact the admin contact, the registrant, an account contact - whoever they deem fit for a domain transfer approval.
The losing registrar has 5 days to respond to the registry. If the losing registrar does not respond to the registry in 5 days, then the registry automatically assume the transfer was approved by the losing registrar. This means that if the contact who received the losing registrar's email took no action, deleted their email, or chose to ignore it, the transfer request would be considered approved from the losing registrar.
I'd like to point out the potential danger that can be caused here. There is potential for someone trying to take control or ownership of the domain name by initiating a transfer request. If they can somehow get the transfer request to this step, and the contact on record for the losing registrar does not receive the email or takes no action, the transfer will be automatically approved! For this reason, it is always recommend to be with a registrar who has some kind of "domain locking" or "domain protect" feature.
If the transfer is approved, then the losing registrar notifies the registry. The registry then moves the domain name from the losing registrar to the gaining registrar's account. The registry then notifies the gaining registrar that the transfer has completed and the gaining registrar notifies the person on the account where the domain transfer was initiated.
Is this complicated? Well it certainly can be. However, it's best to understand this because you'll be surprised at how many customer service representatives don't even know the details of this process. And the worst thing you can do is "take someones word for it" when it comes to your domain names! I hope this helped out a few people and remember: lock your domains, always make sure the contact information in both the WHOIS record and your registrar's account is up to date!

How Do I Choose The Right Domain Name?

Many people think the domain name is the easiest issue of a web design project. You should think about your domain name and consider the following points.
Think Directories...
You probably want to advertise your business online and offline. A typical offline directory is the phone book or the yellow pages. If your company is called "Web Design ABC" for example, you have a slight disadvantage because many directories list their entries by alphabet. Therefore, your entry won't appear until the person looking for web design company has scrolled down to the letter "W". Try to find a domain name / business name that starts with a letter that is at the start of the alphabet, this might give you an advantage with alphabetical directories - or simply add "A1-companyname" to the domain name - if the domain name is already taken for example.
Think Competitors...
If you are in the UK, make sure that the domain name you have chosen has not already been used in a very similar way. For example, if you intend to register www.edinburgh-chocolates.co.uk, you should check, if someone has not already registered www.edinburghchocolates.co.uk.
Think Readability...
If you want to register a domain name which consists of two or more words, you should register both versions - the words separated by a dash and the words all written together. This will avoid confusion and you make sure that no other business can register almost the same domain name. If your domain name is very long and consists of several words, it is advisable to use the dash version as the main domain name you use for email addresses and advertising. The reason for this is that the name where the words are separated with dashes is a lot easier to read. Look at the following examples:
www.search-engine-optimisation.co.ukwww.searchengineoptimisation.co.uk
If you have the first option printed on a car, people driving behind or past you will have a chance to read the name and hopefully remember it. The second option does not allow the brain to "stop" where a word normally ends. It is awkward and people will not remember the domain name as easily as the one with the dashes.
You should also consider registering not only the .co.uk domain name, but also the .com and/or .net domain name. There are many other options available, such as .org, .org.uk, but they are meant for organisations, not for businesses. Registration of foreign domain names can be tricky, since some countries (such as Germany) require the technical contact for the domain name to be resident in Germany.
Think Spelling...
Try to find a short domain name which is easy to spell and easy to remember. This saves your clients having to type a very long domain name and the likelyhood to mis-spell the domain name is decreased too. If you decide to register a domain name which uses spelling which is different to what a client would expect, try to register the correct spelling as well. Please have a look at the folowing two examples:
www.eazy-homes.co.ukwww.easy-homes.co.uk
Some people think that the words used in a domain name are important for search engines. Google or any other search engine have never really confirmed any such thing and if you are looking for a book store, such as Amazon, the domain name www.amazon.com does not contain the word "books" in the domain name at all.
Think Registars...
Try not to register your domain name with the same company that looks after your web hosting. If you are unhappy with your web hosting support, you can simply get hosting elsewhere and point your domain name to the new host. When you select a registrar, make sure you keep a note of the login details - username and password for your domain name. Please check if you are allowed to make changes to the Domain Name Server (DNS) Settings. A good registrar will give you a comprehensive control panel that allows you to set up web forwarding, email forwarding, domain name locking, and DNS changes. There are registrars out there who will charge for changes like this. Try to avoid them. In general, moving a domain name from one registrar to another should be straightforward, but it never is. So make sure from the start you chose one that allows you or your web designer to look after your domain name. A good registar is 123-reg for example. They give you access to a comprehensive control panel and their support is pretty good too.

A Quick Overview of the Domain Name System

To understand what your doing when you register domain names, it’s necessary to understand a little about DNS – that’s domain name system, the standards and software that make the whole thing work. Here’s a crash course in what DNS is, and how it works.
Originally, every server on the Internet was referred to by its IP address. This is a long number, much like a phone number, containing three dots, for example 156.65.234.86. Pretty quickly, however, people wanted to use more of these numbers than they could remember. It was at this point that someone came up with the idea of a system to match names to the numbers. This allowed not only easier web addresses, but also email addresses and many other uses besides.
DNS is a hierarchical system. At the highest level, there are a number of ‘root servers’ (currently 13), most of them in the USA. It is these servers that know what .com, .co.uk and similar things mean. At the next level down, each registry has a master server – so .co.uk has a server that can tell you any .co.uk address.
At this level, ISPs come in. They run DNS servers for their customers, updated regularly by the servers higher up the chain – this process used to take a few days, but now happens in a matter of minutes. Your ISP’s DNS server stores entries to reduce the load on the master servers, but will check occasionally to see if anything has changed, or if you type in a domain name your ISP has never seen before.
There is often a final level, which is the DNS servers that web hosts run for their customers. These are the DNS servers you will be dealing with after you register your domain name. When you type in their addresses into your domain name’s records, it tells the system that those are the servers that know the IP number for your website.

Domain Name - Creativity

Unfortunately, if you’re just now registering a domain name, you’re coming to it a little late. People have been buying up names in huge numbers for almost a decade now, and there’s almost nothing left.
It often takes people a little while to grasp the sheer scale of this situation. They desperately try every word and phrase they can think of to describe their website, only to find them all taken. Then they turn to acronyms and abbreviations – and they’re all taken too!
Every word in the dictionary is taken – in fact, every word in all the different English dictionaries there are is taken. Every single three-letter-long domain name is taken – someone owns aaa.com, and aab.com, and aac.com…and, worse, the four-letter ones are running out too! Unless your name is very rare, you’re likely to find that someone already owns it.
What can you do? Well, the simple answer is that you have to get a bit more creative with the name of your website. It’s not enough to just use your name and a simple description – you literally have to come up with something that no-one has ever thought of before.
If you’re having trouble, there are a few things to consider. Firstly, you might have some luck by using your surname combined with what your site is about, if your surname is reasonably rare – this works far better than using place names, unless you live in a small town. You might also think about coming up with a nonsense word – something that is pronounceable, but doesn’t actually mean anything.
If your site doesn’t necessarily need to be international, then you might also consider buying a domain for your own country instead of .com – a co.uk for the UK, for example, or .de for Germany (Deutschland). These spaces are much less polluted. However, you need to make sure that whoever owns the .com doesn’t own a trademark on their name, as you might violate it by registering that name under your own country’s top level.

Maybe you are thinking , "all the good domain names are taken already" ? Not so ! Sure, more the 72,000,000 domain names have already been registered, but this doesn't mean it would be impossible to register a good domain name relevant to your business. Your success depends on: 1°) how you select your domain name; and 2°) how you promote your domain name. In this article I shall explain domain name selection.
Domain name selection can be done as follows:
a) Visit the following website: "http://labs.google.com/" and select "Google Suggest". Say for example you need to register a domain name for your handbags selling website-store. Then type "handbags" in the Google Suggest search box, and you see that 8,550,000 results are found. For "handbags retailers" we find 156,000 results. These results give us an idea of the keyword popularity. It is important to use relevant and popular keywords in our new to register domain name.
b) Next visit the following website: " https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal". Enter "handbags retailers", and choose data to display: "Keyword popularity". Then press "Get more keywords", and next press "Additional keywords to consider". Remember we are looking for keywords high on search volume, but low on competition. So press "Advertiser competition". As a result we see two keywords are low on competition and high on search volume: "handbags store" and "handbags retail".
c) Say for example your store name is "McFeeley Leather Goods and Travel Accessories". Then you could decide to register: "www.handbags-store-mcfeeley.com" or "www.handbags-retail-mcfeeley.com". These domain names are relevant for our example business, high on search volume, and low on competition. In order to get interested visitors to our website, we shall start to promote it via quality links. The more external links a website has, the more visitors it shall get, the higher the rankings in the search engines. Interested visitors, means customers ! I shall explain this in the article "Domain Name Promotion Tips".

When you have registered a good domain name, relevant to your business, and you have acquired a webspace, then the next thing you want to do is to attract quality visitors. Visitors interested in what you are offering via your website, be it information or be it goods for sale. In this article I will take a leather goods store as an example.
One way to attract visitors interested in the content of your website is the following: post articles about the goods you are selling. For example, at market leader: www.ezinearticles.com. You will get a lot of interested readers and your articles will be republished in ezines, all for free. The only thing you need to do is to write articles.
If you have a leather goods store, for example, you could write articles about the goods you are selling. Giving an detailed description of the different articles you are selling. Since you are allowed to include 2 domain names in the author resource box, readers shall be able to find your website by clicking these links. And there you have your interested quality visitor who is likely to buy from your website when the prices for your leather goods are ok.
In this way, you are using the power of article writing and publishing to promote your domain name and website. This is far more effective than any other way to promote your website. People will find your articles and find your website for years to come, giving you quality visitors and quality links to your website. You will get listed in search engines like: www.google.com, faster then you even imagined. Do not wait to start your domain name and website promotion now using self written articles.

I question I get quite often is the domain name matters when it comes to Search Engine Optimization. As we all know it matters when it comes to user friendliness. It should be short, but still allow the user to know what to find on the site. Too long domain names are easily forgotten or misspelled. For usability, keep it short and let it describe your site.
When it comes to search engines your domain name matters more than one could think. If you have a website about, let’s say traveling in Europe, the domain name should contain some information about this. A good example would be www.travelineurope.com (probably already taken though). It should not be www.lets-go-travel.com, since this does not tell anything about your content. You should really try to have your primary keywords in the domain name in order to make the search engines happy, and they will rank your site higher.
So when you’re about to launch a new site, take a moment and think about it. What is your site about? What are the keywords that you’re going to optimize your site for? If you have no idea what I’m talking about I suggest that you read a bit about SEO (Search Engine Optimization) before choosing the domain name. That will give you a good base to stand on before choosing your domain name.
If you have some ideas of your domain name, you can use this neat tool to find out if it’s already taken or not: www.free-web-names.com.
Good luck with your domain name and your new site!

There are thousands of new websites being created on the Internet everyday. As a result, the domain name registration industry has become a very popular industry. There are many different companies competing with each other to offer domain names to people who wish to establish a website.
Where should you register your domain name?
There is an online directory of all of the licensed domain name registrars, all of which are competing with each other to have you do business with them. With all of the competition available for you to choose from in this industry, the price of Internet domain name registration has continuously dropped during the last few years.
All of the different registrars will charge a different rate to register with them. No matter how much you pay, the end result is still the same. The only difference is the price you pay. Therefore, you should shop around and research the rates of all of the different registrars, which can help to ensure that you do not overpay for your domain name.
What to look for in a domain registration
The rates of a domain name depend on who you register with, as well as the amount of space you use on the server. The larger the space you need, the more expensive it is. You need to compare prices of domain space with the same amount of server space as well as the price.
You should also look into the customer reviews of the registrars before doing business with them. Occasionally there can be problems with your domain name, and you want to deal with people who are customer friendly as well as helpful and knowledgeable about your domain problems.
The registrar that can give you great customer service and a large server memory limit at a low price is the ideal company to register your domain name through.

Especially the first keyword you place in your domain.
You see, I have a few websites that are often found just by the domain name. Something that I’ve noticed is that some people actually search for the information they’re after by typing into the search engines: www.anxiety for example.
If your website is about anxiety, then this could very well be worth at least 30 extra visitors per month to your website!
One of these 30 visitors could be the one that buys your product! Or several extra sign ups to your newsletter.
I’ve just ran a quick search through the Msn.Com website for the keyword “dogs” and just about every front page website for the keyword “dogs” has the word “dogs” in their domain name.
Because most shorter domain names are already taken these days, I usually try to place at least 2 to 3 keywords that describe what my website is about and what people would search for.
Of course this isn’t always necessary, especially if you can grab yourself a lot of high quality link backs to your website… But if you’re starting out, every single visitor you can get counts!

Once a domain expires one of two things will happen. Firstly the domain will expire and become available to register as a domain name through the normal registration process. If the domain has any value then it is likely to be picked up by a name drop registrar.
Before we go deeper into the world of dropped names you may want to know what an expired domain name is and how you go about getting hold of an expired domain name.
You may have noticed that your registrar offers a back ordering service. A Back order service allows you to pay your domain registrar to try and acquire a specific domain name once it expires.
There are drop registrars whose sole purpose is to try and register a domain name once it has dropped. These expired domain name catchers work on behalf of individuals and other domain registrars to acquire domain names on their behalf.
Expired domains are a big business as webmasters and large corporations try to grab as many valuable domains as they drop. The reason for this virtual land grab is that many domain names can fetch high resale prices on the open market or have valuable existing traffic or type in traffic potential.

How To Register A Domain Name

Once you have decided what you want your website to focus on, the next important step to take is that of selecting an appropriate domain name. If you are unsure as to what a domain name is all about, it can be likened to your residential or business address or perhaps your telephone number. Its purpose is to allow visitors to locate you on the Internet. So it is important that the domain name you decide to use is appropriate and depicts what your website is all about.
Before you can start using a domain name you need to check with a domain registry service to find out if the name you want is available. For domain names ending in .com the availability of distinctive and unique sounding names is practically non existent.
You will need to be willing to play with the words you want in your domain name to see if this helps you find one available that meets your specifications. You may need to change your wording to get a registered domain name. You will also need to think about this carefully as this name is going to depict your website and the services and products you are offering your visitors. An inappropriate domain name might result in less traffic to your site. Less traffic means missed opportunities to grow you online presence.
Trade marking your name is a wise decision but this is a more involved topic which should be dealt with by a qualified practitioner in this area of legal expertise.
Your domain name will form part of your web address. For example mybusiness@domain.com. Once visitors click on your web address they are immediately transferred to your web site. Naturally it is extremely important that the spelling of your domain name is accurate otherwise your visitors may end up on someone else's landing page.
To have your website operational it is not vital that you have your own domain name, however if your web hosting company goes out of business you lose your address and have to be transferred over to an alternative hosting company. This may prove a costly exercise if you then have to change your offline stationary to reflect the changes to your web address.
The length of a domain name is restricted to 26 characters. It is best to keep your domain name as short as possible as it makes it easier for your visitors to remember your domain name and keep on returning to your site. Lengthy domain names are less easier to remember. Please remember that domain names are not case sensitive and you can use a mix of upper and lower case alpha characters and numbers to make it easier to read.
Once your domain name is found to be available you will then need to register it with one of the domain registers online. Usually membership is for a two year period but 12 months registration is also available if you prefer this option. If you do not act immediately when you decide on what you want your domain name to be, it is fairly likely that the next time you check you may find that someone else has taken it.
With your domain name in place and your website concept decided upon, you are now ready to proceed to the next vital stage of actually deciding on the design of your website.

If you don't have a well known brand-name or the resources to build a brand that people might search for, why register a domain name that gives you no advantage whatsoever in the search engines, where people search for your product or service? The worst offenders are small consultants who operate under the three-letter acronym names that mean nothing to most people. There is enormous value to picking a company name and domain name that contain targeted keywords for the benefit the search engines.
Unless you want somebody to steal your traffic, think about domain names that are already plural or that can't be pluralized by the simple addition of an "s." If you register frame-master.com, just wait a week. Someone will probably register frame-masters.com in hope of stealing some of your customers. One benefit of registering the plural form of a word is that you'll likely gain the ranking for the singular and plural forms.
The informational page serves as a navigational assist to the searcher who might not have located the site's content because they were not searching with the same language used in the website. Be sure, therefore, to register additional keyword-rich domain names for informational pages. Informational pages really become small navigational websites. They discuss a particular topic in some detail; perhaps they summarize some content area of the website and then link users to that area of the website. There is absolutely no reason why this informational content can't be placed on an external domain name.

Choosing a Domain Name for Your Internet Business

Once you have decided that you want an internet business, you must first think of what your actual business is going to be. In order to get started, you will first have to choose a domain name. Ideally, the domain name should reflect what your new internet business is all about.
For instance, if you are going to sell widgets you want your domain name to be something like widgets.com or buy-your-widgets-here.net. Get the picture? If you are selling widgets, you don't want a domain name that suggests you sell something else.
There are multiple sites on the internet that will sell you a domain name. You can go to register.com or godadddy.com to search for your perfect domain name. These sites will inform you on whether or not the domain name is available and if so, what the cost is to purchase the name. If you don't have your own server, you will want to choose a site that offers hosting as well.
A lot of these sites additionally offer website building. They have templates available for you to choose from to make your site your own. There are also programs available to purchase that you can build your site from as well. They run from cheap to expensive, each one offering different schemes for you to choose from.
In building your site, you will want to choose different letter styles, some bold some not. You may want to add pictures to add interest to your site. You can decide for yourself everything you want to exhibit. It is your site.
Colors are a big decision as well. You want your website to be appealing to the human eye. You can choose flash intros or you can have just a one page site. You can have multiple pages depending on what you are promoting on your site.
You can share links with other companies called affiliates and earn extra money by doing this. One affiliate site I know of is linkshare.com. When you sign up for this, it links you with different companies that pay you when you advertise them on your site.
Additionally, you can advertise your own site on sites like adwords promoted by Google. Yahoo and MSN offer similar programs. Godaddy has just started a new program. If you purchase your domain from them, they will park the domain on a "cash parking" website that displays pay per click (PPC) ads. This way you can make money while working on building your website.
Choose your domain carefully. Make a statement. Make it interesting and above all, have fun while joining the internet circle.

Why Populate Domain Names with Keywords

A proper domain name is essential to guiding traffic to your website. If your domain name seems entirely unrelated to the topic of your site, then it probably doesn’t draw the customer base that you desire. However, adding keywords to your domain name can be a driving force for search engines to top a list with your site for inquirers. Your position on the list of sites found based on a keyword search could be impacted severely by a domain name that does not incorporate the correct information.
Stay On Topic
The way to begin is to make sure that your website stays on topic. In other words, if you decide to sell nail polish, don’t get involved in pages and pages of information on nail files. Staying on topic will help you pick out the true keywords that will draw people to your website successfully. If you trick yourself into believing that “nail files” is an important keyword for your site, then you are misguiding potential visitors of your site. Staying on subject keeps every other step simpler.
Narrow the Field
While your site may have several relevant keywords with which to populate the domain name, you’ll want to narrow down the subject severely. You don’t want a domain name that goes on for miles because people can’t remember it. If you are selling nail care products, don’t try to include every product in the domain name. Try to consolidate. Either use the one or two most prominent products in the name or find a way to state your topic in general. Use “nail care” or “fingernails” in your domain name to suggest all products. Or, if you are focused on specialized grooming products for the nails, use “nail grooming”.
Be Unique but Simple
A domain name populated with keywords doesn’t have to be fancy. It simply needs to get the point of the website across in a somewhat unique way. If you are publishing a site about various grooming techniques or types of manicures for nails, you could use something cute like “fingernail tips”. If you are providing a service, you should include the location of your business, especially if the service is to be local and not an internet provision. If you live in Florida, you don’t want someone calling from Oregon expecting service the next day.
It is good practice to review other domain names regarding the same topic as you intend to include on your website so that you can get an idea of how others have attracted attention in the past, as well as what domain names are already taken so you can stay away from those and any others that are too similar. Start by searching the keyword or keywords with which you’d like to populate your domain name; this will return several sites that have already accomplished this. One of these sites may give you the best idea for your own site, and you’ll be ready to get started.
